Her ambition to become a healer was short-lived when Aelyth decided Jehrina made a terrific drool rag, and Searched her for Kimbrith's clutch. At the hatching, gold Leilanth Impressed to her, and they became the newest queenriders for Benden. Petran Impressed to Laerth, becoming P'tran. They became weyrmates after they'd finished their training, with Laerth catching Leilanth in her first mating flight which also resulted in the eventual birth of their son Jehran. Several Turns later saw the birth of a daughter, Trelina though speculation abounded over the inclusion of 'l' in the girl's name. Leilanth rose again, bringing a healthy clutch to Benden Weyr.
However, when Leilanth next rose, she was caught, surprisingly, by K'tyn's Prometh, changing Jehrina's entire perspective. No longer was her weyrmate and Weyrleader the same stable relationship it had been for nearly 14 turns. Jehrina has since been barely civil, dealing with the Weyrleader only when necessary, as well as forbidding him to touch alcohol in general, and wine in particular. After nearly a Turn with the young man as Weyrleader, she has become almost polite, but not quite. At least she doesn't (often) chew him out in public anymore.
Possibly the severest test of the Benden Weyrleadership was.... not being the Benden Weyrleaders anymore. Benden's water supply dwindled to dnagerously low levels. At the same time, Telgar's riders finally had enough of the difficult leadership in their weyr. When the Weyr Council 'asked' Telgar's weyrleaders to retire, their stipulation was that an experienced Weyrwoman take over leadership of the weyr. Jehrina and K'tyn were the obvious choices with the problems already at Benden. For once, acting as a united front in theory and in fact, they informed the weyr of their decision. P'tran, angry at the move, quickly changed course and volunteered his wing to move. ( Good move on his part. Leilanth doesn't like the taste of bronzerider. )
Jehrina and K'tyn moved a large group of Benden's riders to Telgar, and are slowly attempting to integrate the two groups. It hasn't been the easiest of tasks, especially with many of the Telgari considering the Benden contingent 'invaders'. Some of these folks are the staff, like the steward, whom Jehrina has had difficulty dealing with, though his assistant Sandar has given her a few insights into the problems integrating the groups. Richenda, has also been a tempering force between her husband and the weyrleaders.
After several Turns, the Telgar situation stabilized. Jehrina, after a successful flight and clutch stepped down as Telgar's Weyrwoman in order to allow Kindre to take over as a younger person likely to be more adaptable to the changing needs of Telgar Weyr.
It's been a hell of a ride, folks. Thanks for the memories.
